Rooms we walk before we buy

A house we might buy is walked in daylight. We look at where people sit, where they sleep, and whether the windows shut. The pictures here are the sort of rooms that come up. They are not a list of homes for sale today.

Where you sit

We stand in the main room and look at light, marks on the ceiling, and the glass. A sofa and chairs tell us the scale of the room. We are deciding whether this is a house we want in our own name, not scoring the cushions.

If someone lives there, we only come at a time they have agreed.

02

A room for sleeping

We open the window and look at the sill and the corner where a roof meets a wall. A stain that is still damp is a reason to pause. A hairline crack is written down and left for the decision.

After the walk

We keep a short note: what was sound, what was tired, and whether we want to buy. When one of our houses is for sale, a viewer sees the same kind of rooms, at a time we set.

Write via the contact page if you want to ask about a house we own.
